Cats

Jesslyn Derkson

cats here curl tails
against curbs, like pointing
you which way to go

there’s community in this sunken
city square, light swallowed
by grunts across tables,
jewel eyes green
across continents

& dollar beer dancing
in language you don’t
understand

women slinking in packs
between buildings

& you on the cobble
stones, shedding
your whole life
story to cats
