The Newsagent
Overtone of newspaper – ink and paper, slightly metallic. Sweetened by the smell of fridges used for milk, and penny sweets – foam banana and strawberry. Grounded by loose tobacco; raisin and wood.
Encapsulated in the taste of a Fudge bar, bought with pocket money.
The Pub
Cigarette smoke – not fresh but a clothing kind of smell, worn into dusty seat upholstery and thick carpet with an overbearing pattern.
Stale spilt beer; bittersweet tang. Concentrated lime cordial. Noxious cleaning fluid and room freshener in the toilets; synthetically floral.
